here i go again.

i thought id post again, because its been awhile... :) ha right.
as you have probably noticed, i spend way to much time on this blog. oh well. i like it!

well here are a few things that ive done lately.

on sunday we decided to go into dc again with a bunch of people from the office. here is sam with two of his co-workers, buerto and caleb.

we didnt spend much time in the city, because buerto's aunt from japan was making us a DELICIOUS dinner. wow authentic japanese. it was incredible!
last night i decided to try my own hand at cooking. i wish it could say it turned out like this...

but lets be honest... it turned out like this...
oh man! needless to say it was pretty stinkin good. i got the recipe from my friend britney.
the recipe:
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped carrots
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup flour
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup half & half
4-ish (i use less) cups of cooked chicken
1 cup peas
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
frozen pie crust (2)
cook onion, celery, and carrots in butter on skillet-medium
heat until tender
add flour and stir constantly until smooth- about 1 min
add chicken broth and half & half
stir constantly until thickened and bubbly
add chicken, peas, salt, and pepper
add mixture to one pie crust still in its pan
put the second one on top and cut small slices
cook @ 400 degrees for 30-ish mins.

it really is super easy and good! even if it doesnt look very pretty!

it pretty hard to mess up rice crispy treats, so i decided to add in a little holiday spirit! these are sams favorite things, so i make them pretty often (just not so festive)
i was at michaels the other day, and found these little hope words for like 20 cents, and decided to get one for my parents, taryn and ryan and me and sam.
* i got them to remind us all that even though we have faith that my dad will be healed eventually, we need to have a reminder of hope that it will happen every once in awhile.
anyways, i didnt know what to do with it, so i decided to add magnets to the back and wala! it has a perfect place on my fridge now!
who knows i might paint it canary yellow too! :)
i have been wanting to get into the spirit of AMERICA since we are in dc, but i dont really have any fourth of july decorations. sams cousin annie made a really cute muffin liner garland for her little girls birthday party, and i found these fourth of july ones and decided i would try it out too! its a really bad picture, and they arent hanging up like they should be, but it a really easy and a cute way to decorate!
i also found this little bucket and flags for a dollar at target and decided to fill the bucket full of some sand we (borrowed :)) from mexico.
lastly, we have an awesome grocery store right down the street from us, and they have a huge dining area with lots of different varieties of food to choose from (take fred meyers food court and quadruple it!) anyways. they have samples of different things and this time they had their "red white and blue bread" its a loaf of bread with blueberries, raspberries and sugar on top... it is AMAZING. probably the best bread ive ever had.

crap, there goes $5.50 :) but its worth it!

Ok... the world is SO small! Sam's coworker Buerto... his name is actually Matt Bertrand if I'm not mistaken. I met him last semester at BYU. He was in my American Sign Language class. Crazy, huh? You should have Sam randomly call him Matt and see what he does :)
