3 questions.

i realize posing 3 questions at once is asking a lot of you, but all 3 are questions that i really want an answer to.

1. on our way home, be are planning on taking the long route.
i.e. stopping at as many church historical sites as we feel like, along with any other need to see places.
so my question to you is have any of you been somewhere above, around or in between washington dc and pocatello idaho that we must see?

question 1 is easy enough right? now for #2

2. i have obviously gained a little (lotta) weight since being married... and 7th grade, but am finding it extremely difficult to find the desire and motivation to get my butt in gear.
what is really hard for me is that i have had all day every day for an entire summer to get going, but have rarely taken it upon myself to exercise my already firm gluteus maximus. i kid i kid.
does anyone have any good advice or used motivation that might help my helplessness? PLEASE SHARE.

3. finally, when i get home i would really like to start having a monthly girls night/craft night. would any of you be interested in participating in this? if so, i think we would rotate who is in charge of coming up with that months craft, and each girl would pay that person however much the craft would cost to go and buy supplies and such.
i think we would do this craft with the understanding that most of us are poor college students, so we would keep it reasonable. i think it would be super fun to just have a night of girly things and fun and good food! what do you think? anyone interested?

thanks for helping me in these matters.
i send my love.

Depending on the route you take... We loved Hyde Park, NY. There are several mansions you can tour including the Vanderbilt, the Clermont, Wilderstein, and Franklin Rooseveldt's home and presidential library. The gardens are spectacular as well as the history (I would look up their stories before you get there if you go).

Corning, NY is also on the way home, and has several interesting museums - including a neat glass one.

Kirtland, Ohio is less than 10 minutes out of your way, and is definately worth a stop. The Church of Christ owns the temple and just opened a new visitor's center. Our church owns the Whitney store and house as well as the Ashery and Sawmill. It has an incredible spirit.

West Des Moines, IA - I heard a really neat family just moved there and they love to have company.

Omaha, NE - The Winter Quarter's temple is one of the neatest temples we have been to, and the visitor's center is incredible.

Little America, Wyoming - you're almost home, stop and get an ice cream cone!

Hope you have a great trip!

1. I absolutely love Carthage Jail, you definitely need to stop there. It's probably my favorite place. I don't know any other super exciting places between here and there...

2. Since I'm pretty unmotivated myself, I can't really help you but I can honestly say that you have a stinkin cute shape! I'd be proud of your curves if I was you...some of us don't have any :)

3. I would totally be up for a craft/girls night! They are much needed around here and I need help when I do crafts!

You should be proud that I answered all 3 q's!

1. Can't really think of anywhere amazing. Mount Rushmore is about all I've got for ya.

2. Don't think I'm too helpful on this one either. Obviously I'm pregnant and showing it... even in places I shouldn't be. But, I have heard that starting out pregnant at your ideal weight makes it easier to shed the pounds afterward. I don't know if you're planning on babies any time soon. But, just a thought.

3. I would be so excited if you took it upon yourself to organize this little craft group. I am all in.

1. You'll get this a lot i'm guessing, but if you haven't been to Nauvoo and Carthage those are both musts. I went to Carthage when I was 15 and it is still one of the most spiritual experiences I've had. Both it and Nauvoo are really amazing.

2. One thing Chris and I try to do is have a set time that is our work out time. When I was in school, I would like go Mon, Wed, Fri at 4, or whatever worked with my classes. I've found if I say "i'm going to work out sometime today" it keeps getting pushed back, because I find other things to do instead! And Chris always says (sorry, he is an exercise science man) that just doing one thing active every day makes a difference. Even like going on a walk with the hubby or playing in the park. Having a work out buddy that you go with helps a lot too, whether its Sam or another person who wants to get into it. Then you can motivate each other and you have someone youre accountable to.

3. I so wish I could be in your craft group.

1. no idea. the farthest east i have been is missouri and I think I slept as much of the way home as I could.

2. I have struggled with this up until about a month ago. My motivation was that my pants didn't fit anymore and I'm too cheap and prideful to go buy a pair of "fat pants" so I literally force myself to work out every day after work. It helps that we have an elliptical at home. And I love yoga/pilates videos. I can work out and nobody has to witness my large self huffin' and puffin! I've lost 14 pounds so far! The other thing I do is eat 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones (well..usually I always just ate 2like most people, just lunch a dinner). I feel like Im eating all day but I'm really just snacking on healthy stuff and Im not starving by the time 6:00 hits..so I don't overeat at night. Plus I have more energy to workout at night! So...if nothing else. Let the nightmare of fat pants be your motivation!

3. I'M IN! For the past year Addie and I have done our best to have a weekly girls night (and Ty does a weekly guys night) but a lot of times it ends up being every other week or like..every third week :) But I'm down with the craft idea! Except that I am not creative enough to think of anything..

PS where are you guys living when you come back?

2. Josh and I just signed up for a 5k and paid money for it. We knew if we had money involved we would get out and exercise! You look great though!

3. Girls night would be so fun! I would love others ideas because I am horrible at being crafty.

Can't wait to have you back!

I hate exercising and I definately hate that I hate it. I think doing a 5k is a good idea!!

Craft night would be awesome. But I am not creative at all!! But I like trying to copy others ideas!!

1. Columbus, OH. I hear it is just beautiful this time of year.

2. You just have to do it. My motivation is no one is going to listen to a fat dietitian. Jk. But really it is just to stay healthy and prevent heart attack, cancer, fatness, etc.

3. Yes I would love to be in craft group. I can't really pay for everyone's travel when I host, but I am sure folks won't mind the drive. Nebraska is sweet!!

hola!
1st off..I wanted to get a little leaner and I decided to run a 5k! Yes I paid and everything before I could even run 1/2 mile and hating running. but guess what it made me run cuz all I could think about was being the last girl to cross the finish line! so i ran every day and I love running now! I will run with you when you get back and do a 5k again! it was fun!
Also..craft/girls night I would love, however me, taking after my Mother..not so crafty so my ideas would not be involved unless for some reason a miracle came about.
Come home soon!

1) I'm sure there's a billion sweet places to go that I've never been to or even heard of between here and there. However, I did like some of the cool historical places in Philadelphia (like the Liberty Bell). Maybe you've already been there. Also, I would definitely recommend going to Mesa Verde in Colorado, but it might not be on your way home depending on which way you drive. If not, just go there someday. It's a bunch of old dwellings of the Anasazi Indians built right into the cliffs. It's sweet!

2) My suggestion is an expensive one, but worth saving up for. I LOVE Wii Fit! It gives you variety, it allows you to target certain areas, it gives you fun little rewards and encouragement along the way, and it feels like a game! It's awesome and it has proven effective in helping many people become more fit! Plus, you can always buy other things like Wii Sports and such.

3) Craft night sounds so fun, but I'll be back in Provo.

Hi sweetie, It is now midnight and I just got done watching Dan in Real Life. Love it. I needed my update on you and Taryn's blogs so i am reading before i go to bed. I so love to read you two's blogs. Go to the sacred grove. Very neat and spiritual, and I agree with Taryn and the weather in Ohio!!. The weight thing? Walk and eat smaller portions. A heavy mother is really not one for advice though. We can walk together. I am in for a craft night, girls night. A movie or dinner sometimes can take the place of crafts or a early day to the thrift stores too!! I am excited to have you home. Mom
